The third annual “King of the Inlet” Tournaments will be held out of Ponce Inlet on April 21; May 19; and June 16.
The Grand Prize is based off the most points accumulated from the three tournaments. One fish per species – 10 points per pound!

To make this tournament more exciting they are paying double each month for a featured species depending on the migratory patterns of our fish. The April tournament pays double for Wahoo, the May tournament pays double for Dolphin, and the June tournament pays double for Kingfish. All three tournaments are fishing for all three species of fish. Make sure to stop in to Adventure Yacht Harbor for all your fishing and fuel needs, the best source for Diesel fuel and Non-Ethenol Gas. For tournament info go to KingOfTheInlet.com

We are happy to announce the barge is gone! The new seawall, sidewalk, rail and B-Dock gate in front of Boondocks and the Boaters Lounge is safe and looking good. The next phase for that area will be a new roof on the boaters lounge building (no barge) along with a new north end on A Dock. These were big, necessary improvements and we thank you for your patience!

New mural on the south wall

The south wall of Adventure Yacht Harbor got a facelift this summer by artist Kevin Roach. On his summer break from college, Kevin spent a week designing and painting a collage of deep-water fish as they swim together along a ribbon of deep blue sea. Anchoring them on the west is the compass rose graphic from the new Adventure Yacht Harbor logo.
Kevin is a student at The Cooper Union in New York City. He is studying art and entering his sophomore year. He grew up in Jacksonville, FL and graduated from Douglas Anderson School of the Arts in 2010 while earning a full scholarship to CU. Kevin is the son of the new AYH owners, Sheryl and Charlie Roach.
“We had a lot of fun watching the painting evolve” said Boondocks employee, Lynn. “It makes a great backdrop for the restaurant and marina.”

What happens during a hurricane to your boat is directly proportionate to the prep you put into readying for the storm. If the storm passes off shore of us we will see a strong easterly wind and then as it passes to our north we see a strong north wind. Those two by themselves are not the bad part, it is the surges and tides. The tides make it hard to calculate the dock lines required. When the tide is full flood the boats are all loose in their slips but as the tide falls the boats “hang” from the dock lines. We recommend using your normal dock lines and a second looser set to account for the boat being tossed around in the slip. All dock lines should be tied in the middle of the poles to be the most effective. The following is a short list of supplies you will need…

Rope – you can’t have enough, small for lashing items down and boat size for backing up your existing dock lines.

Battery Power – all power will probably be turned off due to high water and or power outages. So waaayy before the storm you need to prep before the power goes off. Make sure the batteries are fully charged.

Batten down the hatches – if it can go home, take it home!
